Schuylkill River Park Alliance
The mission of Schuylkill River Park Alliance is to advocate on behalf of all users of the Lower Schuylkill River (below the Art Museam dam) for the preservation and enhancement of safe and accessible access to Philadelphia's Schuylkill River Trail and to promote responsible development, management and enjoyment of the Park. We also seek to serve as a voice for park users by acting as an "infomediary" that funnels information between park users and park-related organizations, such as the Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC), and Fairmount Park.
We are the main advocate for improving the two street level crossings at Race and Locust Streets. We waged a successful campaign between 2003-2007 to achieve a mutually acceptable agreement between the City of Philadelphia and CSX Transporation to allow two safe street level crossings in addition to facilitating the construction of a connector bridge between Schuylkill River Park Trail and the "original" Schuylkill River Park at 25th and Spruce Streets.
SRPA is considered by Fairmount Park to be the official "friends" group of the Schuylkill River Park Trail at Schuylkill Banks.
Schuylkill River Park Alliance is registered in the name of Lower Schuylkill River Users Association as a non-profit corporation with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Lower Schuylkill River Users Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The official registration and financial information of LSRUA may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free, within Pennsylvania 1-800-732-0999.
