Crossing Closure

On Monday, May 23rd The Streets Department contractor will start installing conduit for the crossings at Race St. and Locust St. The work will start at Race St. and then move down to Locust St.
The installation of the conduits will take approximately two weeks.

The Race St. crossing will be closed from 6:00AM to 4:00PM on weekdays between May 23rd and June 6th while the contractor is working at the site. After hours and on weekends the crossing will be open to a limited width to allow public use. During the closure, we encourage park users to use the entrances at John F. Kennedy Blvd., Market St. and Martin Luther King Drive at the Art Museum. The Locust St crossing will remain open during construction. The contractor will be posting signs at Race St. with this information.

The Streets Department apologizes for the inconvenience and it looks forward to improving these entrances for your safety and enjoyment of the Park.

Starting April 13th, CSX and the City of Philadelphia will begin the long awaited signalized gate crossings at Race and Locust Street crossings. The project starts with the resurfacing construction phase. We were told by the City's Street Department that the crossings will have temporarily closures during certain parts of the construction. They hope to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. The entire process could continue into June.
